Sun Salutation Workshop
Sun Salutations are one of the most common and recognizable sequences in Western yoga. Usually practiced in a vinyasa style (flowing with the breath through postures), sun salutations are a great way to stretch, strengthen, and invigorate the body. However, since we are often just flowing through the postures, correct alignment and modifications are often left behind. In this workshop, we will be breaking down each part of the sun salutation puzzle to build a strong and healthy foundation for this wonderful practice.
Focus and Benefits
The poses we will focus on are:
Forward Fold- increases flexibility, spine health, and a calm mind.
Mountain Pose- promotes healthy posture and correct alignment
Plank/Chatarunga- builds full body strength
Cobra/Upward Dog- Opens chest, releases neck and shoulder tension, strengthens spine
Downward Facing Dog- stretches and strengthens the body, builds bone density, can help decompress the spine, strengthens lungs and opens up breathing capacity, creates calm and stability
